So cliche, but DREAM CASTING
So, I have absolutely NO illusions of grandeur when it comes to my book. I love it. I hope other people will love it. I dream with all my heart that it will impact someone positively in some way. However, I know it will not be made into a movie. I know it will not be the reason I am invited to some awards show in Hollywood. But it’s so fun to talk dream casting, so let’s just go for it, shall we?
First of all, we have Claire. Oh, Claire. Her character arc is one that I love. I feel like she changes so much throughout the story. She starts so typically damsel in distress and ends up being pretty hardcore if you ask me. Well, you know, her own very “Claire” version of hardcore. Anyway, If Claire were to walk up to me one day, in the flesh, this is what she would look like:
Actress Gabriella Wilde is my dream Claire. Young, fresh, sweet, and stunningly beautiful. Also, I can picture her with a messy braid and freckles. Oh, she is just perfect for Claire.
Next, of course, is James. Seeing as I started writing this way back when I was all of sixteen, James has gone through many, many different versions and faces. There were elements of William Moseley, Gabriel Macht, and, duh, Heath Ledger. But when it comes down to it, my ideal James would have to be Charlie Hunnam. Specifically, King Arthur Charlie Hunnam. Although, perhaps a little less dirty and Guy Ritchie-esque in appearance. Strong, dependable, handsome, and in possession of a devastatingly boyish grin, Hunnam wins. Hands down.
Damien has always been Jonathan Rhys-Meyers. Since I first saw Bend it Like Beckam and August Rush. He is the perfect, perfect Damien. Suave, sleek, devilishly charming, with a smile that is as cocky as it is disarming. He checks all the boxes. I also needed someone handsome enough for it to be believable that someone like Charlie over there could possibly be overlooked. Ha!
Those are the three that I usually cast in my head. But just for fun, let’s add a few more…
Olivia Hallinan would make a lovely Angeline. She looks sensible, sweet, and loyal.
Gregory…. For him I see someone like Matthias Schoenaerts in Far From the Madding Crowd. Only with darker hair. Or maybe that’s because I’d just like to include him somehow. (Sly, side smile emoji).
Quite frankly, Bernadette just needs to be Dame Judi Dench, and now we’re really getting out of the realm of all possibility so perhaps we should leave it at that.
See ya on the red carpet!
