Happy
Happily ever after… Such a magically vague and mystical phrase. I enjoyed playing with that idea in Waking Beauty. I tried to sort of turn it on its head a bit by questioning what that really means within the framework of a fairy tale. And it was so fun.
So what does happily ever after mean to me?
Well, today I spent the day at the lake with my kids and my sister and my mom. We soaked up every last bit of late summer sun. I swam in the cold water until my body and soul felt invigorated. I felt the breezes whispering sweet goodbyes to the season. And drove home listening to music and children’s laughter. Then, after greeting my husband and sending my two oldest off with him to go to soccer practice, I walked down the warm sidewalk toward our mailbox wearing a damp swimsuit and loose sundress. I opened an advertisement for a bookstore and found a picture of my book inside.
Today felt pretty perfectly happily ever after, if you ask me. 🙂
